While promoting my fundraising training course (Foresee Communications), a fundraiser asked why our membership organisation does not work in partnership with a university to offer such a course. I think the simple answer  is because our sector is not big enough, and not well recognised enough to provide a valid target market for a university. AND there are no NZQA qualifications in fundraising. I've been involved in fundraising training for over 26 years (firstly with Fundraising Training Associates, Dwyllis Brown and Kitty Hilton) and then on my own. I've been the lead trainer with the Fundraising Institute for four years. Currently there is no other comprehensive fundraising training at this level, no formal career pathway for fundraisers and loads of people out there calling themselves "professional fundraisers" with no evidence whatsoever of having attended any professional development in fundraising. According to the Execucare 2016 salary survey only 20% of fundraisers have a recognised fundraising qualification. I have at least invested in securing CFRE, my company is a  CFRE approved provider for Continuing Education and my course is approved by CFRE for 28 educational points towards initial certification and/or recertification. Come on fundraisers, let's raise the bar!
