Foresee @ the FINZ Conference
Last week, the Foresee team attended the FINZ Conference. As always, we came home with a million ideas and thoughts about how we’re working with our clients and how we can fundraise better, stronger and smarter.
Here’s some of our teams top of the mind thoughts from the conference:
- Very interesting presentation on ethics of fundraising - issues that we need to be aware of, especially in light of UK fundraising scandal. Would recommend that all fundraisers review the FINZ Codes and Standards of Practice from time to time, especially when undertaking a new job or a new fundraising activity.
- Alistair Lomax - Philanthropy trends: - "There is significant reductions in trust, mass and state funding, which requiring charities to rethink leverage and collaboration by contracting out fund development programs"
- The Warehouse Group General Manager (Community & Environment) Paul Walsh gave a clear message that a partnership with charities needs to make sense to both teams as its a 360-degree reflection of each other’s branding.
- The power of the story resonates through all fundraising. A great story that connects donor with the cause is a strong driver for a successful fundraising campaign. Great stories from Coastguard NZ, Auckland War Memorial Museum and the National Foundation for the Deaf (plus more) were shared and are a great way of learning about the practical side of fundraising from those on the ground doing their thing.
It was a pleasure to meet new and connect with old fundraising friends. A big congratulations to the FINZ team for providing a full and interesting conference programme and to all award-winners at the Soar Print FINZ Fundraising Excellence Awards.
